Celebration of New Years Eve in Kiruna

Your evening begins in our warm BBQ hut in Poikkijärvi, overlooking the serene, frozen river. Inside, the fire glows and the scent of traditional Sámi cooking fills the air. We serve souvas—a rich, smoky blend of reindeer, deer, and moose meats, paired with vegetables and prepared over open flames, just as it’s been done for generations. It’s a meal that brings people together, wrapped in warmth and storytelling.

As the night deepens, we venture out in minibuses to chase the Northern Lights. Our guides follow the skies, choosing the best locations based on weather and aurora forecasts. Whether the lights shimmer gently or burst into color, each sighting feels like a gift from the Arctic itself.

Then, as midnight approaches, we gather once more—this time under the stars. With the Northern Lights above and snow crunching underfoot, the countdown begins. And when the clock strikes twelve, fireworks light up the sky across the frozen landscape. It’s a celebration like no other.
